Nonlinear optical response of resonantly driven polaron-polaritons

چکیده

Exciton polaritons in two-dimensional semiconductors inside microcavities are powerful platforms to explore hybrid light-matter quantum systems. Here, we study a macroscopic coherent population of the lowest energy state polaron-polaritons, which quasiparticles formed by dressing exciton particle-hole excitations surrounding electron gas. Using non-perturbative many-body theory describe exciton-electron correlations combined with non-equilibrium for macroscopically populated state, show that electrons strongly affect collective properties polaron-polaritons. This stems from dependence polaron-polariton and interaction between them on density, leads strong nonlinearities. We identify stable unstable regimes polaron-polaritons calculating its excitation spectrum, they result prominent hysteresis effects when density is varied. Our results should be readily observable using present experimental technology.

Collective pairing of resonantly coupled microcavity polaritons.

We consider the possible phases of microcavity polaritons tuned near a bipolariton Feshbach resonance. We show that, as well as the regular polariton superfluid phase, a "molecular" superfluid exists, with (quasi-)long-range order only for pairs of polaritons. We describe the experimental signatures of this state. Using variational approaches we find the phase diagram (critical temperature, den...

Reservoir-induced decoherence of resonantly excited confined polaritons

We report on the effect of decoherence on polariton bistability. The polariton hysteresis loop is shown to collapse in a similar way when increasing the temperature or under nonresonant excitation power. The hysteresis upward threshold is pulled to lower excitation power, whereas the downward threshold remains almost constant. This effect is explained by the population of an incoherent reservoi...

Theory of Nonlinear s-Polarized Phonon-Polaritons in Multilayered Structures

A theory is presented for the dispersion relations of the nonlinear phonon-polaritons arising when phonons are coupled to the electromagnetic waves in multilayered structures of nonlinear materials. The calculations are applied to a multilayered structure consisting of a thin film surrounded by semi-infinite bounding media where each layer may have a frequency dependent dielectric function and ...
